Members of the Boating Industry Association of NSW will gather at The Deckhouse in Woolwich on the 18th October for their inaugural Roast.

The Roast will see a number of leading speakers come together to share their thoughts and update the industry on matters relevant to today’s business.

Headlining the event is CommSec’s Chief Economist Craig James. Craig is well known to many, delivering his latest views across many mediums on a daily basis. Craig will let us know if he thinks the global economy will ever get its sea-legs back. What is causing all the rogue waves….and why are they smashing consumer confidence every second day? Should we position our business (and our industry) for the calm waters of the pre-GFC glory days, or has the game changed for good?

Also on the schedule will be representatives from Roads and Maritime Services who will explain how it will substantially change the way it does business with boating customers between now and January 2013.

Our guests will explain the big transition plan with advice for those at the coal-face to help minimize impacts on industry, and our mutual customers.

Consolidated Lawyers will be on hand to tell us about our responsibilities relating to Australian Consumer Law and the Personal Properties Securities Register. Whilst we work hard to make our businesses work, we at times become unaware of responsibilities we have under law.

To finish the proceedings will be a true 'Roast' of the panel. Designed to be both educational and controversial, an industry panel will present their respective arguments to 'Two Mad Dutchmen' in the market for a boat. They’re in a quandary, overseas boats advertised online look tantalizingly cheap, and the web is full of 'deal of the century' stories.

Our panel of experts has been assembled to help them consider the ramifications of buying a boat from overseas.
The afternoon proceedings have been graciously supported by the Commonwealth Bank, Consolidated Lawyers and Roads & Maritime Services. The afternoon will commence at 2.30 pm sharp and will include light refreshments sponsored by Nautilus Marine Insurance.

Tickets are only $49.00 and can be purchased immediately by calling the BIA on (02) 9438 2077. Seats are limited to the first 80 callers.
