Brig navigates in a new direction

Many boat owners may be unaware of the major technological advances that have been going into Brig rigid inflatable boats. The fact is, there’s a lot more than simply compressed air going into Brig RIBs, Europe’s leading inflatable brand, as evidenced by the all-new Brig Navigator range.

While other Brig models have undergone constant improvement, Navigator is the first totally new range for six years so it’s really big news. The Navigator is a development of the Falcon range, one of Brig’s most popular models worldwide.

At first glance you’ll notice the Navigator has a distinctly masculine look, finished in a rich black, though you’ve also the option of having one in brilliant white. Look a little closer and you’ll notice handy storage lockers incorporated into the seating, and there’s also rear locker seating with a backrest. Add to that an electric horn, an offset console plus many more clever inclusions, all topped off with a stainless steel Targa arch.

So much for features, what about the figures? The Navigator range will comprise 3 models, the 530, 570 and 610 being 5.3, 5.7 and 6.1 metres respectively. Taking the 570 model for instance, as the name suggests it is 5.7 metres long, has a beam of 2.3 metres, 5 air chambers for buoyancy and can carry 10 passengers with a maximum load of 1200kg. Five adults can be seated in safe positions in front of the console, while moving the console forward has allowed Brig to include two jockey seats. That means your legs can act like shock absorbers, and you can use your knees and thighs to lock you onto the boat and keep your footing in rough weather.

You can fit a 120 horsepower engine on the back for fast response and the inbuilt 98 litre fuel tank keeps those horses well fed. Yet weighing just 380 kg, it can be easily towed by a typical four cylinder car.

Fortunately all these top features don’t come with a top shelf price tag as the Navigator models sit in-between the Brig Eagle and Falcon ranges.

While the Brig Navigators have only just been launched at the Southampton Boat Show in the UK, we won’t have to wait too long to get our hands on one. The first shipment is set to touch down in Australia in October, just in time for summer and there are already several firm orders.

New model development like this is what we’ve come to expect of Brig, which is why the company remains at the forefront of RIB development. Brig is the number one selling brand in Europe and is the market leader here in Australia as well. So it’s worth taking a look at how far RIBs have come in the new Brig Navigator range, coming soon to Sirocco dealerships Australia-wide.
