Asia Pacific Student Cup moves into knockout stages

'Racing has been close and tough all week - Asia Pacific Student Cup 2012'    Christopher Lim

Yesterday saw the completion of the round robins of the Asia Pacific Student Cup 2012 and also saw the four semi-finalists emerge after two days of tough racing with variable and shifty winds playing havoc with the sailors. Russell Kan, Calvin Lim and Denise Lim from Singapore as well as Kosaku Yoshida from Japan sailed the most consistently throughout the competition and find themselves in the business end of the regatta where they will face off for a place in the final and ultimately to be crowned champions of this inaugural match race in Singapore.

Racing has been really tight throughout and is evident from the three way tie for third place which saw Navee Thamsoontorn from Thailand relegated to fifth place, out of the running for the overall title. To provide more racing for international teams, there will also be a fifth to eighth place round robin between Thamsoontorn from Thailand, Jovina Choo from Singapore, Zac Evangelisti from Australia and Allison Maher from Ireland. The final day of racing will commence today and is expected to heat up even more as the stakes become even higher for all teams.
