Offshore Etchells Regatta preview - Entries now open

Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club (NCYC) Offshore Etchells Regatta is being held over the Labour Day long weekend, 29th September to 1st October 2012. NCYC and Lake Macquarie Etchells Fleet Inc. invite all Etchells sailors to race in the Regatta.
The regatta will be run by well-known Melbourne based National Race Officer Phill Collyer and crane facilities, trailer storage and marina berthing are all included in the entry fee price.
With sentiments expressed about last year’s event by the competitor’s including Roger 'Hicko' Hickman (Sun Tzu) like 'I love getting up to Newcastle. It is such a great place to go racing given its ease of access to a great offshore track and fantastic facilities and great hospitality' where else would you want to be for the long weekend but sailing at Etchells off Newcastle..? Roger will be back this year to battle it out on the water and enjoy NCYC’s hospitality. Other well know Etchells sailors including Matt Chew, Tom Woods and Peter McNeil have also entered the regatta.
NCYC has embarked on a new hardstand development project having just secured over 1000 square metres of space on which small keelboat storage, hoist crane and dinghy launching pontoon facilities are being erected to cater for club and regatta sailing. Lake Macquarie Etchells Fleet in conjunction with NCYC see this as a great opportunity to stage future offshore regattas. NCYC is close to open water and has plenty of accommodation and secure storage facilities for participating Etchells.
Following the NCYC Etchells Offshore Regatta, LMYC will be hosting the Etchells Spring Regatta over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of October. Travelling Etchells participants can store their boats at NCYC between regattas free of charge.
