As predicted the final day of the International Star Class North Americans in Hamilton Harbour brought stronger winds and, at time, torrential rain. The only race of the day was a five-leg affair with each leg approximately 1.2 miles. First across the line was Jud Smith and David Timberlake with RHYC sailors Terry Line and Larry Scott finishing in second. When the results were tabulated there was a three-way tie for first place overall between John MacCausland, Arhtur Anosov and Jud Smith, each with 28 points. The tie-breaker was decided by the boat with the fewest third place finishes in the series. This saw MacCausland take top honours with 45 points, Arthur Anosov in second with 42 points and Jud Smith in third with 41 points. MacCausland is now a six-time winner of the NAs and received, once again, the Royal Canadian Perpetual Trophy and his crew, Guy Avellon received the Mead-Batchelor Crew Trophy. Top Grand Master was Larry Whipple/Phil Trinter and top EGM was Jack Rickard/Sam Eadie. Top Canadian was Brian Cramer/Cam Lymburner and top Classic boat was Frances Fougere/Gord Anderson in CAN 7111.
