Star Class North American Championship - First day of racing
|
The first day of racing at the 2012 Star Class North American Championship in Hamilton Ontario saw thirty-four Stars on the start line and a bright sunny day on Hamilton harbor. With winds between eight and twelve knots, it was the occasional gusts to 16 knots that saw Toronto area Star sailor Simon Van Wonderen losing his rig in the third and final race of the day. After three races Arthur Anosov leads the fleet with John MacCausland in second place who is also in first place in the Masters Group. In the six-boat Grand Masters fleet Larry Whipple is in first place and thirteenth place overall. In the Exalted Grand Masters group, John Rickard leads and is twentieth overall. The three boat Classic group is led by Bob Wescott in thirtieth place overall. Star Class website
