The third event of the Audi Melges 20 Lake Ontario Series was held this weekend at Port Credit Yacht Club. The event had its share of varying conditions. Saturday the PRO, Paul Clissold, dodged the storm cells, getting the racers out onto the lake for two great races. The PCYC club manager, David Looyen, even managed to give him a hand on the RC boat, and was able to see the yacht club from the water, for a very unique view. Winds were consistently running 18-20 knots but piped up to 30 knots as the fleet of 11 boats finished the second race. Rhonda Joyce finished first in the last race on Saturday and then promptly submerged 'Batteries not Included' after the finish line! Sailors had to steer around telephone poles, trees and a countless number of floating objects left over from Friday and Saturday’s storms which saw all the rivers dump their carnage into Lake Ontario.

The 1-2 knot current created from the storm serge was a key player on how well boats performed across the racecourse. Rob and Sandy Bulter managed to do it much better than most, and ended up on top of the heap, after four races, at the end of the day. 1st Rob and Sandy Butler 8 pts. 2nd Jon Messenger 13 pts. 3rd Irwin Naidoo 14 pts. 4th Dave Pollack 21 pts. 5th. Justin Quigg 23 pts. 6th Jim Pearson 26 pts. 7th Rhonda Joyce 27 pts. 8th Paul Currie 30 pts. 9th Ken Martin 57 pts. 10th Brian and Melissa Hill 60 pts. 10th John Heaton 60 pts.
