Roads and Maritime Services announce Yarrawonga boat ramp closure

Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) Acting General Manager Maritime Operations Trevor Williams said today that the Yarrawonga boat ramp downstream of the Yarrawonga Weir on the Murray River has collapsed and will be closed until further advice.

'The boat ramp is unsafe for the launch and retrieval of vessels as it has partially collapsed into the river and has been barricaded off by the Moira Shire Council which maintains the ramp,' Mr Williams said.

'The ramp is on the Victorian side of the Murray River.

'Boating activity is increasing in the area with the local trout fishing season ramping up.

'RMS advises boaters to keep to lookout for snags as water levels are high due to minor flooding.

'The nearest alternative boat ramp is downstream at Thompsons Beach, Cobram,' Mr Williams said.
