Yet another reason not to own a power boat. Volvo Ocean Race photographer, Paul Todd, shot these images as a power boat catches fire and explodes in the El Campello marina on Sunday the second of September in front of hundreds of people on the Costa Blanca near Alicante, Spain.
'There was a huge bang yesterday and a puff of black smoke, it shook the whole house, so I grabbed my camera and ran across the road', Todd explained. 'Turns out there was a fuel leak (very small) less than a cup of petrol in the bilge, float switch for the bilge pump goes off and kaaa boom.
'The one boat caught two others on fire and they drifted in to the others. If it wasn't for a couple of brave guys in a small wooden boat half the marina would have gone up' he added.
