From January 14-18 2013, Sorrento Sailing and Couta Boat Club will play host to the Minnow National Championships. Over 100 boats are anticipated in what normally is a very hotly contested event.
Over many years, Minnows have been a very important class to SSCBC where many world class sailors started and developed their skills. Even to this day, the VIS is full of sailors who credit Minnow sailing as their first competition.
Good numbers are expected from both NT and WA where last year’s Championships were held.
Popular for their blue mainsail and family friendly events, SSCBC will not only conduct an Open Championship, but also a Novice course where on water coaching and development will be part of the fun.
Many Victorian Optimist sailors are dashing back from Hobart to participate in this Minnow Championships also adding a bit of competition.
The Victorian Minnow Association are currently working hard preparing their sailors with a solid training program leading right up to the event and SSCBC also are fine tuning their sailors as part of Team Sorrento.
