The Australian Sports Boat Association (ASBA) is pleased to announce the release of the Notice of Race for its 2013 National Titles to be held at the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria (RYCV) over Easter 2013. The titles will be the sixth National Titles to be conducted under the ASBA banner and the first time the event has been back in Victoria since 2009. The local fleet has started preparations and will conduct the Victorian State Titles as part of the Lipton Cup from RYCV in November 2012 and the 2013 Victorian Titles the weekend before the National Titles in March 2013. A large fleet representing all states is expected to attend with at least three boats from Western Australia confirmed to start the ball rolling including the 2012 Champion, Kaito (Heath Townsend) from Busselton WA. The event will be a big part of the WA fleet’s preparation to host the 2014 National Titles in January 2014. Each of the first five overall boats at the 2012 Bellerive Nationals came from a different State of Australia. Of the Victorian fleet, Kiss (Greg Scherwinski), Foam Fast (Paul Heyes) and Monkey Business (Cameron Rae) are expected to be amongst the front runners. Kiss, under previous ownership, has won Geelong Week 2012 and Airlie Beach Race Week in 2011. Up until recent times it was considered to be the fastest sports boat in the fleet.

Another Queensland boat expected at the titles is the 2010 National Champion, Blokes World (Brett Whitbread), who will be competing in his fourth National Title with a 2, 1, 2 scorecard. Plans are afoot to also coerce the owner of Stealthy (Bob Cowan) to venture south after they took second at Airlie Beach this year and also Game On (Julian Newton) in South Australia who is a regular participant at Geelong Week. There is also a couple of local boats available for charter and some great boats still for sale on the ASBA web site to help you get on the starting line. Please contact ASBA if you have any questions or need assistance to attend the event. An accommodation list will soon be available on the web site as well with plenty of great places to stay and eat in the area. The Notice of Race and entry form can be found on the ASBA web page in the News section (www.asba.org.au).
