Iain Murray, wearing the dual hats of America's Cup Regatta Director and Head of the Golden Gate Yacht Club's AC Review Committee has presented a series of findings, more than a week sooner than expected.
The announcement today was silent on the causes of the fatal incident involving the AC72 Artemis Racing on May 9, which triggered the establishment of the Review Committee.

America's Cup organisers, Golden Gate Yacht Club, have appointed a six-strong team to investigate and report on the facts of the Artemis incident, last Thursday, and to recommend on safety issues for the event.
The group is working in conjunction with the US Coast Guard who must issue SLR's (Special Local Regulations) for the event to proceed.

Had there been a playbook for grand summer sailing competitions, the Storm Trysail Club would surely have penned it. As the club heads into its 25th presentation of Block Island Race Week, no less than seven classes have coordinated major championships to be held in conjunction with the event, and now over 180 teams have registered.

The 2013 Lysekil Women’s Match is set to take place 5-10 August and Danish match racing star Camilla Ulrikkeholm is one of the skippers already having accepted an invitation to this year’s event. British Olympian Lucy Macgregor, Claudia Pierce of New Zealand and last year’s rookie Alexa Bezel of Switzerland (runner-up in Lysekil 2012) will be some of her competitors.

The 2013 Kieler Woche will take place 22-30 June with victory and medal ranks being decided on the very last race day when the top six athletes race against each other in the finals. Organizers for the 2013 Adria Ferries ORC International World Championship have published the list of entries who will compete at the event held in Ancona, Italy over 21-29 June 2013. To maintain the highest possible standards for the event, organizers have put limits on the number of entries eligible to race, so there are now 100 confirmed entries and 22 yachts on the waiting list.

The 2013 SLAM Mid Winters West Regatta, the first of two major Etchells events on the west coast this Spring was held over the Easter Weekend. The sailing world is very much in shock following the death of British Olympic Gold and Silver medallist and America's Cup strategist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson trapped under water after the capsize of the Swedish AC72 Artemis on San Francisco Bay last Thursday. Helmsman Nathan Outteridge has issued a statement saying that quotes attributed to his father were not accurate.

In the 2013 Atlantic Cup, it was a wild night in the Gulf Stream last night as GryphonSolo2 experienced high winds, lightning, squalls with heavy rain and generally trying conditions. Our strategy was to get out to the Gulf Stream quickly and take the longest ride possible to Cape Hatteras, which is about 270miles from Charleston.

Last night on the main beach in Les Sables d’Olonne, Vendee Globe winner François Gabart, the skipper of Macif, received his trophy from the President of the General Council, Bruno Retailleau. As for the 10 other skippers who have finished the race, they have received a reward. The nine others were also acclaimed.

Artemis Racing's first AC72 has been hauled from the water in San Francisco after it destructed during a bearaway on its final sailing day on May 9, 2013.

Walt Elliott Harbor Challenge 2013, organized by the Association of San Pedro Bay Yacht Clubs and hosted this year by Long Beach Yacht Club, was held on Saturday. Scott Holcomb of Cabrillo Beach Yacht Club won the Challenge on his Cal 25, Calamazoo, and, along with it, the right to keep the Walt Elliott Trophy at his club… at least until next year’s regatta.

The second day of the Melges 32 Audi Sailing Series in Porto Ercol finally got underway, after a long wait, with a late afternoon mistral. A dedicated Race Committee delivered two races when a solid 10-12 knots pumped in from the North, with wave action perpendicular to the wind direction.
