In the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race, Shindig took line honors, finishing the 645 nm course off St David’s Lighthouse at 4:55:13 ADT/3:55:13 EDT on Tuesday morning June 18. They were certainly glad to finish first, but sorry not to break the record after such a fast start.

At last year’s Stena Match Cup Sweden, women’s racing was left out of the event because of the tight schedule between the World Cup in Gothenburg and the Olympics in London. This summer, the Women’s Trophy is back at Marstrand and the women’s elite will once again compete in one of the most prestigious match racing regattas in the world.

In the Marion Bermuda Race, as anticipated late Sunday, the ‘line honor’ leaders hit the wall Monday afternoon. According to the YellowBrick tracker they now seem to be sailing on the wind, on a long port tack to Bermuda. The ‘handicap’ leaders are the smaller boats that have kept the old, reaching breeze longer and made their time on the other boats in their class.

The ISAF World Sailing Rankings for 17th June 2013 have been released with Austrian sailors storming up the rankings to match Australia with four top three positions. At world number one, eight nations are now represented with Australia's Mat Belcher and Will Ryan unbeaten, again. In the 49er class, the French have claimed both the number one and number two spots.

Enfant Terrible and Barking Mad were tied on points as the two boats sailed to the finish line under spinnaker out on the Atlantic Ocean. Artemis Racing's Sailing Director, Iain Percy, has spoken out for the first time since the team's training accident, on May 9, 2013, which resulted in the death of his fellow double Olympic medalist, and long time friend and crew, Andrew 'Bart' Simpson. A fleet of 71 one-design boats took part in Cleveland Race Week at Edgewater Yacht Club in Cleveland, Ohio from June 14-16. Seven fleets competed, including twenty Tartan 10s seeking the title of T10 Lake Erie Champion. Light and inconsistent breeze on Saturday allowed only the J/105s to complete a race.

Not much has changed in the race for line honors on the second full day of racing in the 2013 Marion Bermuda Race. It is just wait and see… and enjoy the pink beaches and the bright Bermuda sunshine or a round of golf while you’re at it. Today, the Bermuda fitted dinghies are match racing in Mangrove Bay. Monday is a Bermuda holiday— Hero’s Day— and they have fleet races there, too.

The International Optimist Regatta (IOR) presented by Glacial Energy, celebrates its 21st edition, marking over two decades of fostering junior sailing in the Caribbean. In his quest to beat the North Atlantic record, Francis Joyon on board IDEC, has smashed Thomas Coville’s 2008 record by 16 hours, 34 minutes and 30 seconds. Joyon completed his journey in a time of 5 days, 2 hours, 56 minutes and 10 seconds.
