All this depressing talk about the decline of dinghy sailing! Can anyone remember what was on Y&Y's top 50 'must do' regattas list a few years back? I might do a few to do my bit for the future of the sport...

Chichester Harbour Fed week has to be on the list
If October did not put you off, Salcombe (could be fun in a 300 in a westerly) Fowey Regatta Week is great, but even better if you skip the sailing I've not done Camel Week/Rock but what's not to like there Falmouth Dinghy Week allegedly went into a bit of a decline, but they are trying to get the band back together this year, according to the Restronguet SC website

Borrow a lead mine and do Cowes Week.
Salcombe Merlin Week? Endeavour Trophy, not that I'm going to be invited. |

I do have that list somewhere on file......but as far as I can remember, Merlins at Salcombe was tops. POW in the 14s was also way up there, Abersoch Dinghy Week, Fed Week at Chichester, Kiel Week, Spi-Ouest at Carnac....... It depends if you just want dinghy events or not - if you include the lead mines then the list grows quickly: Round the Island, Cowes Week, Antigua Week, the Whitsundays regatta, Regatta Les Voiles at St Tropez for the classics.....as TT says, there are some truly Fab locations to aim for and these days (as indeed was mentioned in Snakes) pretty much anyone can do these things. For those who like a bit more of a rough and tumble existence, suggest the St Francis YC at San Francisco ought to be high on the bucket list too...... D
