Hi - been hanging around this forum a bit recently. Most subjects seem to end up with the same people arguing about one of two topics:
1. Handicap vs Class racing. 2. PY / GL conspiracy theory Should I just get used to it and look elsewhere or is that the limit of whats discussed?

No, if you scroll down to the what boat section you'll find endless discussions about which boat is suitable for double handing with kids and partners and also single handing too. It seems nobody has designed anything suitable yet so perhaps there's a gap in the market...

The short answers is yes. The forum is not what it was, for a lot of reasons. Sign of the times.

Sadly there's a lot of truth in that.

Probably a conspiracy by the GL/PY committees.

but surely there are only 5-6 people involved with posting anyway?
those of us trying to get involved are either ignored or rubbished which is why people look and dont post |

There's a simple solution, post about something else we're all as bored as the next man and just as eager to talk about boats, bits of kit etc, the trouble is lots of it has already been done. Forums can be very transient places if you don't participate, I read lots of stuff, just because folk don't respond doesn't mean the contribution is any less valuable.
Every Troll knows unless you post something outrageous that sets their eyebrows twitching and smoke comes for their ears, 'they' will never post. You have a boat lots of us are interested to read about, how about a couple more tales in that section where you get to talk about recent outings (forget what it's called but there's a heading somewhere). There's few topics which do the rounds, one of which is a new thread every other year or so questioning the breadth of conversation going on on the forum, and the quality of the contribution.
Seems it's here again... and thus signalling a retreat to private chats on WhatsApp and closed groups on Facebook again.... shame, but a sad reality of no longer living with Web 1.0

Pretty much seems a feature of internet forums generally.
In fact also seems quite prevalent in real life in clubs of all types - couple of popular contentious themes of conversation and occasional forays elsewhere. I suspect you could actually copy posts from old threads to a new topic on a similar theme and nobody would actually notice...
