In the early 70's, the Winter Series was created as a way to keep the crews training and prepared for Summer. It offers the hottest competition, albeit at some of the coldest times of year. 40 odd boats compete every fortnight and finish with the immensely popular Melbourne to Geelong event that double the fleet and gets a lot of cruising vessels also out to be a part of this wonderful passage race.
