On the third day of the Tornado European Championships, the forecast was due to be bad and the sailors awoke to a fresh force 4 with heavy cloud cover. When it was time to hit the water, the wind was building with choppy water and big waves. The race officer got the fleet off to a quick start for the first race, another clean start.

In the 2013 Atlantic Cup, this cloudy, drizzly morning finds us beating up the South shore of Long Island Sound with all of our six competitors within visual contact. It was a long night of changing sails and shifting gears as we worked hard to keep the boat going optimally.

The 2013 Finn World Masters has been officially opened at the Société des Régates Rochelaises (SRR) in La Rochelle, France, though Sunday's practice race was cancelled as strong winds, accompanied by incessant rain, kept the sailors ashore all day. A few sailors did venture out for some last minute practice, while the rest preserved their energy for the racing which starts Monday.

At the Porto Ercole edition of the 2013 Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series, congratulations are in order for Achille Onorato, tactician Lorenzo Bressani and crew Stefano Ciampalini aboard Mascalzone Latino Jr. as they have claimed the event victory. After two days of inshore races on 16 and 17 May, the first offshore leg of the Korea Cup International Yacht Race commenced on Saturday 18 May from the city of Uljin. This first of two offshore legs, took the 25 teams on a challenging 86 nautical mile race track offshore to the volcanic island of Ulleung, with light conditions dominating the early stage of the race and really testing the crews.

In the finals of the Women's Int'l Match Racing Series, local sailor Julie Bossard gave the French crowd at the pier some hope after beating former Olympian Lucy Macgregor in the first match. But then the supreme sailor from Great Britain fought back, winning three consecutive matches to secure the title in this first event of the inaugural 2013 Women's International Match Racing Series.

Conditions on the final day of the 2013 Musto Vice Admiral's Cup might best be described as 'Good weather for ducks' as grey was the predominant colour and oilskins were the preferred attire (good news for sponsor Musto!). At the Melges 20 Audi Sailing Series in Porto Ercole, the weather instability was stronger and more than the Race Committee had expected for the start of Event number two. Weather forecasts called for big breeze which in turn, resulted in no racing on Saturday. Officials were prepared to conduct racing as late as 18.00, but instead teams were sent packing back to the docks.

The sailors arrived to a sunny day with a steady breeze ready for racing. Unfortunately this wasn’t to hold with a big variety of wind and weather changing throughout the day.

Day two of the Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta was marked by nice sailing conditions. It began drizzling, but in the course of the morning it got dry and even sunny at the end of the afternoon. However, it was again difficult to get the boat speed up with the southwesterly of 15 knots and the waves, just like yesterday. During the day the breeze turned to the South and dropped to about ten knots.

Enfant Terrible was sailing in fifth place of the final race at the Farr 40 East Coast Championship when tactician Vasco Vascotto made a bold move. Vascotto decided to split from the leaders and head toward the left side of the course, a risky move because it could have cost skipper Alberto Rossi the regatta.

On Saturday morning the Luna Rossa AC72 sailed for the first time in San Francisco in the bay where the Louis Vuitton Cup and America’s Cup regattas will take place starting July 7th.
With an early morning roll out, Luna Rossa sailed in light winds (3 knots) that increased up to 12 and allowed the crew to carry out an extensive number of manoeuvres.

The second day of racing at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club's 2013 Musto Vice Admiral's Cup brought mixed weather conditions. Morning saw very light airs and weak sunshine forcing the race committee to postpone. After an hour's delay, racing commenced under steely skies in a shifty and patchy breeze of circa five knots from the west-south-west.

The Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta in The Hague/Netherlands commenced with autumn like conditions. Temperatures below normal, steady rain and high waves made it tricky for the sailors on six courses. However, the racing went smoothly, without collisions or dropouts. Due to the strong wind of the previous day, there was still a decent swell, although the breeze had already dropped.

Kirby Inc. yesterday dramatically increased the pressure on LP, ISAF and the ILCA when they asked the US Federal Court in Connecticut to issue a prejudgment remedy against LP.
If this was to be granted as requested LP and its associates would be unable to build Lasers or have anyone else build them for them, while the Courts then could take their time hearing the case.

The 2013 Musto Vice Admiral’s Cup, hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, is now underway.
