Media are being advised in Valencia that tomorrow's attempt to start racing in the 33rd America's Cup has been postponed for two hours.
Strong winds are currently blowing offshore in Valencia and while these may abate later in the day, race officials have already moved to delay the start time.

Valencia Maritime Authority keeps America's Cup VIP's ashore

The Valencia Maritime Authority has caused a major kerfuffle by restricting luxury craft hired to take corporate VIP's to operating just six nautical miles of the Spanish coastline.
BMW Oracle Racing has hired three large, internationally certified, luxury motoryachts to take out several dozen corporate guests, all of whom are top executives with leading international companies.

Fisher's View: Luncheon Day in Valencia

The mandatory rest day after the cancelled race provided a wonderful opportunity for a decent lunch. None of the sandwich-on-the-fly that is so usual at regattas, but a thoroughly civilised sit down to napery and cutlery with fine food and good company – an opportunity provided by that King of hosts, Bruno Trouble, in order to purvey information about a yacht racing event.

While the weather prognosis for Wednesday is much better, than today, the dogs of Valencia, can expect a day on the chain.
Strong winds are predicted for Tuesday, so even if it were a race day in the 33rd match, it is unlikely any racing would be possible. The string wind will probably mean that BMW Oracle Racing will be dropping their wingsail as a precaution.

Where's this cup going? For the Opening Day the Cup was spotted whizzing across the Village after it had impressed the crowd at the Sunday opening event. But if you missed that there was still plenty to check out along with hamburgers and paella in plentiful supply. Even with such a completely different event from 2007, Valencia has a great venue for the America's Cup.
