Rolex Middle Sea Race 2009. Passage at the Stromboli Vulcano for DSK Carlo Borlenghi / www.carloborlenghi.com

The Rolex Middle Sea Race, co-founded in 1968 by the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Royal Ocean Racing Club, is a highly rated offshore classic.

This year ICAP Leopard took line honours. DSK Pioneer Investments (ITA) arrived at 3 o'clock today, after a slow passage from Lampedusa to Malta.

Photographer Bruno Cocozza was onboard DSK Pioneer Investments and offers this gallery of images, showing just what its like onboard a top raceboat.

Photographer Carlo Borlenghi took to the air to take these images of various yachts crashing their way through the ocean.

Enjoy.
