European Freestyle Pro Tour – 2017 calendar released

by EFPT on 22 Feb 2017
EFPT Lanzarote 2016 EFPT
2017 will see exciting new tour-stops, a great comeback as well as events that became regulars and highly upgraded the European tour over the past years.

The season will be openend at Austrias famous Surf Worldcup. After being hosted in Podersdorf for many consecutive years, the popular event will move to a new venue and a new format this year. The event, taking place in Neusiedl am See, will see ten days of pure windsurfing action. The sailors will battle for 10.000€ prize-money at the EFPT freestyle competition happening from the third through the seventh of May.

The second stop this year will take the EFPT crew and riders to Tarifa, Spain. The Toro Andaluz XXV has been staged in 2008 for the last time and will finally make its comeback at one of the best windsurfing spots of Europe.

After Austria and Spain, Croatia will be hosting two events this year. A tow-in competition with 2.500€ prize-money in Croatias capital city Zagreb will kick-off the trip. The riders and their gear will then be transferred to the Dalmatian coast, where the EFPT Croatia freestyle competition will be taking place for the third year in a row. The prize-money up for grasp has been raised to 7.500€, which also makes the event more valueable in points compared to the past seasons.

In July, Costa Teguise in Lanzarote will be the place to be for Europes freestyle elite. Antxon Otaegui, former European Champion and owner of the Pro Center Antxon Otaegui in Las Cucharas, is again responsible for what is known to be one of the best windsurfing events of the year: the EFPT Lanzarote. With outstanding conditions in 2015 and 2016 we are looking forwards to see what this Canary island will deliver in 2017!

The year will be rounded off at the final international freestyle event of 2017: the DAM-X in Brouwersdam, Holland. Hosting the first ever EFPT ladies competition in 2015 and the EFPT final in 2016, we are delighted to be able to once again finish off a long season at this fantastic event.
