2016 Topcat Catamaran World Championships – For the first time sailors of the world fastest daggerboard-less sport-catamarans will face two great events in Biograd/Croatia.

The Yacht Club of Biograd invited all sailors around the world to the Topcat World Championships and the preliminary summer sailing cat-cruising event. We are therefore looking forward to exiting racing and cruising days hosted by the President of the Yacht-Club Gordan Borcilo and his dedicated organizing team.

Between 27th August and 2nd September 2016 the best Topcat sailors of the world will fight for title, goblets and medals. At the end of the matches with fascinating races in this dreamlike Croatian bay the World Championship crown of the K1 Topcat Catamarans will be awarded. We will also see a top world-class starting field in the K2 and K3 class.

Overall 70 boats have been registered together with 124 sailors arriving from eight countries around the world. We even will welcome the team of the Maldives under the registration of their National Olympic Committee.

As the starting field is absolutely word class we will enjoy many thrilling fights on the water. Among the competitors: the defending Topcat K1 world champions from Austria. Mercedes Zinn-Zinnenburg and her Jib-Manager, the top sailors Tom Czajka, will try to repeat their victory achieved during the last championships 2014 on the Lake Neusiedl/Austria.

To create an outstanding venue Biograd will also be the location of an extensive summer sailing camp prior to the World Championships. The International Topcat Class Association (ITCA) also fosters this leisure cruising scene. Participants of this Topcat Tour week will meet at same place for multi-day cat-cruises, island-hopping and joint extended pleasure trips. Active interchange will have priority throughout all performance categories among sailing enthusiasts. Therefore the sailors' relatives and friends will also be most welcome.

Additionally for those who want to put the finishing touches to their sailing skills the Topcat shipyard will offer regatta training in the week before the championship races. Highly experienced instructors will be ready to give each participant the opportunity to perfectly become acquainted with the sailing area.

The entire Topcat community is really looking forward to share this gorgeous stamping ground and to be hosted by the outstanding Yacht Club of Biograd.
