Sail-World.com : Antibes Yacht Show thrives against the trend
Antibes Yacht Show thrives against the trend

'Antibes Yacht Show - luxury yachts continue to generate high interest'    .

While it is common knowledge that the yacht industry has been suffering greatly since the onset of the global recession, the same can not be said of the luxury end of the market, which continues to perform against the trend. The first few months of 2012 has seen interest in luxury yachts for sale remain high and this has been again confirmed with the success of the recent Antibes Yacht Show.

The Antibes Yacht Show, the only pre-season charter and brokerage show in the Mediterranean, enjoy another successful year with a record number of serious offers shown for vessels attending.

Organizers claim this was the most successful show to date.

'The Antibes Yacht Show is now on its way to becoming Europe's 'No.1' Brokerage and Charter Show,' Stephane Trabet, the show's Commissaire General, commented.

'With an increasing number of qualified international visitors from around the world, the show performed well this year with a significant number of professional contacts established as well as direct consumer offers.

'No less than 12 yachts (sized between 12 to 40m) received serious offers which is an absolute record for the show, [as was] the number of charter weeks that were booked during the four days,'

This year over 13,300 visitors attended the Antibes Yachts Show where one of the exhibitors, Fraser Yachts, had four yachts available for viewings; these were M/Y BEYOND, M/Y VOYAGER, S/Y ALIA 82 and M/Y LIVIA.

One sale that Fraser Yachts was pleased to announce was that of M/Y PESTIFER. This 49m motor yacht, built by CRN in 1998 in Italy was sold for $10,000,000.

From 2007, Antibes Yacht Show visitors have increased year on year. The first year there were 8 000; in 2011, there were just over 13 000 yachts lovers coming from 65 different countries to discover the 150 yachts exhibited, and in spite of Europe's economic woes, the numbers have been maintained this year.
