Product of the Week: Friendliest-ever sailor's torch
|
Outside of essential safety gear, there's nothing more useful to have close-to-hand on a yacht than a torch, and THIS torch, just introduced by Sea-Things, must be the most yacht-friendly torch so far devised. It's called SeaLED, and is an eco-friendly self-charging flashlight, which needs no batteries and is charged by hand cranking the built-in dynamo. It would be perfect for your 'going ashore’ kit, or to have in the cabin for grabbing when its your watch rota. A minute of self charging gives up to half an hour of powerful light, much more effective than hand-cranking a conventional torch, and, no more batteries to buy or dispose of... The torch is one of two new products that Sea-Things has just introduced, the other being a DryAtab, which is a waterproof bag specially designed for 10' tablet computers - and we know how often these are being used as a back-up for other navigation systems on yachts these days. These two new products com close on the heels of the successful launch of DryAfloat floating dry pack last year by UK based Sea-Things.eu. The DryAtab is based on the same design as the original DryAFloat, but especially designed for 10' tablet computers such as the iPad, Android, Kindle etc. It has triple sealed waterproofing and the addition of built in foam backing to protect and shock proof the back of the tablet. The touch screen works perfectly through the PVC clear view front panel. As with the DryAfloat, this new tablet total protection pack comes with SOLAS grade reflective tape for night visibility and a manual blow valve for putting buoyancy into the pack. Sea-Things managing partner Peter Franklin said; 'The additional two products are a natural development based on the demand we have observed by listening to the stockists and to other yachtsman that we come into contact with.' All the products can be purchased online from their www.Sea-Things.eu website shopping page. Size of the torch: 5cm (2') wide x 10cm (4') high. Did you like this article?
