Glenn Lethbridge has been a sailing coach, instructor, and trainer, Sailing Club GM, School Director and now Executive Director for 36 years. He leads by example. He will review Ontario Sailing, member benefits, programs and services.

Why Become a Sailing Judge: Judges ensure the fairness of competition at regattas. Judges play an integral role to ensure the fairness of competition at regattas at all levels, from club racing to international competition. They perform many functions, including:

• briefing competitors on rules and their interpretations
• reviewing drafts of sailing instructions, upon request
• arranging and holding hearings of protests and requests for redress
• communicating with coaches and team leaders
• on-the-water judging of competitors’ movements under the propulsion rule
• holding hearings to investigate gross breaches of rules, sportsmanship or manners

Stream Two:

• Safety afloat

Dealing with on the water emergencies such as fire, crew overboard and abandon ship can be a scary situation. Jamie Gordon will discuss ways of dealing with emergencies, planning ahead, practicing procedures aboard in order to be prepared for on the water issues. Jamie has cruised many regions of the world. He is a Sail Canada Cruising Instructor Evaluator. Jamie holds a RYA Yacht Masters and numerous other certificates from Sail Canada and many other international recognized bodies.

• Your Club's Health Checkup

How does your club operate? Is there areas to improve or best practices that can share that can help it run better. Glenn Lethbridge has spent seven years working with clubs across Ontario look at their governance, long term planning, financial health, youth involvement in their club, safety, and strategic planning to help the club run better.

• Communications Aboard

Maneuvering around a marina, tacking the boat, navigating a tricky passageway, clear concise communications is a key component to a safe, enjoyable day on the water. Jamie Gordon will give the group some practical ideas on making your boat an easier place to communicate.

• Shells and Sails

For existing rowing and sailing clubs our Shells and Sails staff is available to work with you to see how we can increase the capacity and participation at your club. Host a try it day, track your clubs governance by working on the Club Assett Tool. This program jointly run by Ontario Sailing and Row Ontario with four year funding from the Trillium Foundation could be a great help to your club. Glenn Lethbridge will review the program.
