This summer, plan a trip to scenic Montreal around the 2010 Classic Boat Festival, to be held at the Quays of the Old Port, August 20 to 22, 2010.
The Festival will bring together boats of various groups of age which generally vary in size from a few meters to twenty meters or more. It is too often difficult to see these treasures and this is the opportunity to present them in a great historical maritime environment. Visitors will be able to touch, feel and hear these wonders.
Indisputably, the popular 'runabouts' and 'utilities' will be present at the Festival but equally important will be other types regardless if they are powered by motor, sail or man.
The Festival's main activities will include Vintage boat tours, the in-water boat show and land displays, the nautical marketplace, prizes, awards and of course, the trophy ceremony. Other activities are 'canoegraphy', sea shanties and live music, the vintage ship photo exhibit and seminars and conferences.
Youth activities include an introduction to vintage boating, painting and racing of mini sailboats, miniature vintage boat building, remote control power and sailboats and animation.
