'Virgin Gorda is the place for the Caribbean Rendezvous this season'

Whether you are visiting the Caribbean from Europe, escaping from more northerly American climes or are a full time cruiser, the place to be at the beginning of April is the Cruising Association's Caribbean Rendezvous, taking place in North Sound Virgin Gorda at the easterly end of the British Virgin Islands. It is the Association's Blue Water Section which is organising their Caribbean Rendezvous from 11–13 April 2013, and it is an ideal time for many. Being towards the end of the Caribbean season, it’s designed to be convenient for members sailing north to USA, towards Panama, back to UK, onwards to the Mediterranean or preparing to lay-up locally. The fleet will anchor-off and will be organised by the Association’s BVI Honorary Local Representative (HLR) Christopher Lloyd. Other boats that find themselves in the vicinity are welcome to join-in what should be quite a party! Just look for the CA burgees. The Cruising Association now has 18 ‘Sections’ that service members keeping their boats in – or visiting – specific locations. Around the UK, which is the original home of the Cruising Association, there are Sections around most of the UK coast. Further afield, Biscay, the Mediterranean and the Baltic also have dedicated sections. The most diverse, though, is the Blue Water section, with members spread around the globe. For more information or to view the association’s full events calendar visit www.cruising.org.uk. About the Cruising Association: The Cruising Association is a leading British-inspired organisation for cruising sailors. From its headquarters in London’s Limehouse Basin it maintains close contact with more than 4300 members worldwide. Founded in 1908 it has one of the most extensive nautical libraries and cruising information centres in the world and works closely with government and international bodies to protect the interests of leisure sailors. It also has specialist sections in 18 different cruising regions. The Association’s patron is Sir Robin Knox-Johnston CBE and the current President is Desmond Scott.
