Want to improve your cruising skills and are in reach of Annapolis in Maryland? Break your neck to be there. In February, will be a a rare and unique opportunity to meet and interact with top industry experts, upgrade your skills, prepare better for your next voyage and compare notes with other cruising sailors. It's the Annapolis School of Seamanship!

Building on last two years of success, the 3nd annual Cruiser's Workshop will be held on Saturday and Sunday, February 11-12, 2012 at the Conference Center at the Maritime Institute. The workshop brings together experienced and well known presenters Ralph Naranjo, Lee Chesneau, John Martino, Frank Bohlen, Bob Campbell, Pam Wall, Peter Trogdon, and Paul Truelove.

The interactive presentations will offer an in-depth look at a variety of topics important to active cruisers, as well as those considering the cruising lifestyle. The workshop is conducted at an ideal maritime learning environment like no other education program has yet offered the sailing and power cruising community.

The weekend's agenda includes presentations for all attendees followed by in-depth break-out sessions designed to hone in on the specific needs and interests. Participants will also have the opportunity to engage in interactive exercises on handling emergencies at sea as well as avoiding close encounters with big ships. This unique opportunity gives attendees the chance to see what they look like from the bridge of a big ship by climbing aboard the ship simulators at the Maritime Institute.

Where: The Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) is one of the largest and most comprehensive maritime training facilities in the world. The Conference Center at the Maritime Institute (CCMIT) campus encompasses over 80-acres and is less than five miles from the Baltimore's BWI Airport, the BWI Amtrak Station, and Interstate-95. The campus is also near many major tourist destinations; such as Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, DC.

The Conference Center offers workshop attendees hotel rooms at their conference center at a discounted rate and also provides a free shuttle between the conference center and BWI Airport for hotel guests.

Shuttle Service:CCMIT offers a free shuttle service to/from the Baltimore - Washington International (BWI) Thurgood Marshall Airport, the BWI Amtrak Station, and the BWI Light Rail Station.

The Annapolis School of Seamanship is dedicated to educating and empowering mariners with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed, safe decisions when operating and maintaining a vessel. Our courses will enhance your confidence level, strengthen your skills, and make you a safer, more informed boater. Learn from experienced industry professionals specializing in a variety of disciplines. Most classes are team taught by experienced licensed captains and industry trade experts. This unique blend incorporates both practical operator experience and expert technical knowledge.

Our Classroom Training courses are designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of both recreational boaters and professional mariners. Although these courses are not designed to turn students into experts, graduates will gain core knowledge allowing them to better service, repair and upgrade their vessel or to know when professional consultation is necessary.

We also offer courses for professional mariners in compliance with the USCG licensing requirements specifically designed for mariners to earn their 100-ton master's license, OUPV '6-Pack' license or endorsements.
