Sail-World New Zealand: January 21, 2013
 | | Reprieve Leads Jive Talkin and Global - Racing in the Marlborough Sounds Don Gurteen | Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for January 21, 2013
Plenty of local action in this edition of Sail-World.Com's newsletter. Thanks to all those who have filed reports - either directly or using our submission system.
Contrary to other daily print publications, we don't mind running sponsor names in a story or headline. Without sponsors, we would have a much more expensive sport, and if we can help in anyway to provide some tangible return for their investment we're happy to do it.
Which should be a real incentive to keep those reports and images coming!

In this edition we have several galleries (well, three) of images from the 18ft skiff Nationals at the weekend.
There were around 10 boats racing, a big and growing fleet, and the standard of sailing was high sailing in fresh winds on Sunday (when racing was cancelled). The boats are now being packed before being shipped before being sent to Sydney for the JJ Giltinan Trophy - which is expected to attract a fleet of 30 boats from four countries.

There's plenty of racing coming up over the next weekend with Auckland's Anniversary Day with two classes - the Optimists and Starlings using the wekkend to stage their Auckland Championships. Plus of course there is the Classic yacht regatta at Mahurangi on Saturday and the Auckland Anniversary Regatta on Monday.
One of the great reports we have in this issue comes from Waikawa Boat Club, and their Annual Regatta. There's some great images of racing in the Marlborough Sounds - it looks idyllic.

Later this week racing in the Bay of Islands Sailing Week gets underway. We're hoping to have full coverage each day in Sail-World.com, plus images from Will Calver and others.
 | | French Bay Sailing Club - get the first taste of the new sou'westerly Zoe Hawkins | Again all contributions more than welcome.
Good sailing!
