China Cup International Regatta starts tomorrow - Sail-World Asia will be reporting 'from the rail'. Big splashy party in Hong Kong tonight, strong wind forecast for tomorrow's passage race to Longcheer, Shenzhen. One item of note: Michel Desjoyeux is sailing on a Beneteau 40.7 with China Team - we are just wondering, will he find the courses a little on the short side?

America's Cup: Oracle Team USA - capsize and recovery - Video

Video from Oracle Team USA of the capsize and recovery of their AC72 USA-17, which capsized in San Francisco Bay, while trying to head home after the wind and tide increased at the end of a training session. Penghu has an awesome reputation for howling wind but naturally the wind gods are somewhat contradictory at least they chose to be today. The fleets went out for a 1030hrs start as scheduled and had to wait in the starting area for a while whilst the gods decided where to stabilize the breeze... 10 knots.... [more]

Vestas Sailrocket 2 hoping for big things

Paul Larsen, Vestas Sailrocket 2 project leader and pilot, discusses the new PB over 500 meters of 50.98 knots. The peak speed was around 53 knots (one GPS was over, the other under). The run started perfectly and felt super steady. Having an average so close to the peak shows this. Vestas Sailrocket 2 felt great, the leeward pod was flying and the ride was smooth.... [more]
