Sometimes it isn't easy reporting an event. Even at the Olympics where - supposedly - everything is set up make things easy for the press and media. At some of our Asia regional regattas it is devilish hard to find people after the racing is over for the day. Then, as Sail-World NZ editor Richard Gladwell points out, the reporter has to choose between guesswork, supposition, or saying nothing at all. Next time one of the always-friendly media asks you for 'a few words,' please stop for a moment! It helps the event no end when reporting really is 'reporting,' and not just a shot in the dark, a quick comment about the breeze and a dressed-up version of the results sheet.
