What makes a good regatta venue? Richard Gladwell takes a long hard look at the Weymouth/Portland area and comes to some interesting conclusions. Here in Hong Kong, the new sailing season starts next weekend with the RHKYC Autumn Regatta... that'll be inside a harbour, too!

Valerie Arrighetti stole the limelight come the end of the week as the French woman was crowned the 2012 PWA Women's Slalom World Champion, after a magnificent season. At the London 2012 Paralympic Sailing Competition, Sydney 2000 2.4mR gold medallist Heiko Kroger (GER) continues to impress in the 2.4mR fleet after the German picked up his first bullet to take the overall lead. Paralympics London 2012: A win apiece for GBR and AUS in Skud 18

Australia's Dan Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch and Great Britain's Alex Rickham and Niki Birrell opened up the Paralympic Sailing Competition with a race victory apiece on the first day SKUD18 racing in Weymouth and Portland, Great Britain. Paralympics London 2012: Girl power in the 2.4mR fleet

Great Britain's Helena Lucas is the only female sailor in the 16-boat 2.4mR and it was a case of girl power on the opening day of sailing as she stormed to an early overall lead.
