Sail-World New Zealand: July 6, 2012
 | | Oracle Team USA get put through their paces in a fashion shoot for the SF Chronicle Gilles Martin-Raget: AmericasCup© | Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for July 6, 2012
The Volvo Ocean Race comes to a conclusion on Saturday, local time with the final InPort Race, which will determine the winner of the overall InPort Trophy.
Currently, Camper sailed by Emirates Team NZ is tied at the top of the points table with Puma, skippered by Ken Read, and with Groupama one point behind. Abu Dhabi is four points astern of the two lead boats and only has a mathematical chance, to win.
If they are able to win the InPort Trophy, Camper will have come away with that title, plus they have also won the speed record trophy, and look set to finish second overall. While that is obviously not a win – it is a good haul of three of the four primary overall trophies.

To achieve this feat, Camper have to beat both Puma and Groupama in the InPort race to be sailed on Saturday night NZT. We will be posting the links later on www.sail-world.com
Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi Racing's Azzam has undergone a keel repair while afloat in Galway.
There's a lot of local content in this edition of Sail-World.
 | | Finn and Mike Drummond get away to a pin end start, European A class Championships, Lake Garda |
From Italy, Finn Drummond (20) reports on the European A-class Championships, where he sailed with his father Mike (also Design Coordinator for Oracle Team USA), and long time A-class cat sailor Murray Philpott.
The Sail Noumea 2012 race finished almost a month ago, when TeamVodafoneSailing broke the Multihull record. In this edition of Sail-World.com, we have a video of their race, including on-board and post race in Noumea.
 | | Round Robin One - Regional Match Racing Training Camp Port Nicholson Yachting Trust |
From Wellington, we have two stories – the first of a learn to sail and general watersport experience running out of the Wellington Ocean Sports Centre in conjunction with Kiwisport. There's all the contact information if you know of a school that might like to be involved.
There's also been a Regional Match Race Training camp staged by Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club, using the Elliott 6 Mtrs. Teams from around New Zealand came to the event – and we have a full report and images in this edition of Sail-World.com.
 | | Emirates Team New Zealand sailors meet the Auckland Blues rugby team Chris Cameron/ETNZ |
A couple of weeks ago Emirates Team NZ took on The Blues rugby team – in a game of touch rugby and a grinder contest. We have the video of that session in this newsletter.
And for something different we have a video from a fashion shoot by the SF Chronicle, lining up Oracle Team USA, alongside the hulk of a dry dock, which is one of the less attractive features of San Francisco. It makes a great backdrop for the shoot, which is an excellent piece of video – very well compiled.
