Welcome to this edition of Sail-World.com's UK newsletter.

Teams are preparing for the next In-Port races, in what has become the closest edition of the Volvo Ocean Race yet sailed.

The Sail for Gold Regatta is underway in Weymouth, the 50th Anniversary Cowes-Deauville Race was hosted by Royal Southern Yacht Club, Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series 2012 has wrapped, the RS Feva Nationals are underway and Bjorn Hansen defeated Ian Williams (GAC Pindar) in the final at Korea Match Cup.

Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta – Solid start for Ben Ainslie + Video

Noumea Race: Beau Geste would have taken a minute to sink says skipper

In an interview with Radio New Zealand, Beau Geste skipper Gavin Brady has compared the 80ft Farr design to being close to doing a 'OneAustralia' after the yacht sustained damage in the Sail Noumea 2012 race. Speaking from Norfolk Island where the yacht is anchored an awaiting assessment, Brady said that she was close to sinking, and they were advised to get off the boat by the designer.... [more]

In the Evolution Sails Sail Noumea 2012 race, the leader, TeamVodafoneSailing is becalmed 25nm from the race finish in Noumea. Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta - Massive win for Caleb Paine on day 1

On the first day of the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta, it was a difficult day on Weymouth's waters. But Caleb Paine (USA) made it look easy with a massive win from Aleksey Selivanov (RUS) and Mark Andrews (GBR) in the only race sailed. Racing didn't actually get under way until 16.30 as the early morning northerly clocked and dropped shortly after the fleet got away for race one at around 11.30.... [more]

The 50th Anniversary Cowes-Deauville Race was hosted by Royal Southern Yacht Club from 1st to 4th June 2012. The biggest fleet ever of 107 yachts contested the Race and the international entry was led home overall by French IRC Class 4 entrants, Noel Racine's JPK 10.10 Foggy Dew and Benoit Dhalluin's A.35 Dunkerque Plaisance, from Peter Pickett's British Class 5 boat, Moondog.... Global Ocean Race two front running Class40s were separated by 280 miles on Monday afternoon as the two double-handed Class40s head due east at the same latitude as the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne, France. Noumea Race - Day 3: Beau Geste withdraws - Update @2300hrs

2200hrs: The 80ft Farr design Beau Geste has withdrawn from the Evolution Sails Sail Noumea 2012 race with structural damage, which is later reported as continuing to deteriorate. A ship has been diverted to stand by. Beau Geste is heading for Norfolk Island and is expected to arrive in the morning.... [more]

Michael Maier (CZE) won his fourth Finn World Masters title on Friday with no more races sailed after the wind failed to stabilise in time to get the final races in before the time limit. Abu Dhabi shrugged off seven months of Volvo Ocean Race frustration to seal their first offshore victory in a nerve-jarring transatlantic leg from Miami to Lisbon.
