Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, Plastic plague, get online or miss the boat! How much boat show information is too much!?
Well, for the uninitiated perhaps, but for the rest of us, there can never be too many innovations, exciting launches and world firsts – that's right! Sanctuary Cove is upon us and there are 78 Australian and international launches of products NEVER SEEN in this country, or the world.

From superb big white boats, in sail and power, to fascinating widgets that will make our boating lifestyles that much better. Then there are the destinations, the charter options, innumerable product launches and radical redesigns – you have to see them to believe them!
I know, because I had a preview today, as the mercury soared to 27 degrees C and the glorious hardware was moved in so skilfully to their berths. There was a lot of polishing and a great deal of flurry to get hospitality tents and signage in place. Exhibitors are nothing if not perfectionists!
Clear skies people! Some drizzle and light showers predicted, but hey, we are boaties, so a splash here and there is nothing!

As I walked along the marina arms, there is a buzz, a vibe, a distinct electricity about this year's event, with a record number of media accreditations granted and international and Australian media interest at an all-time high. The boat show office has run out of passes and parking for media is fully subscribed.
With visitor parking this year at Movie World and VIP shuttles as well, let's hope the weather lasts and the visitors come in droves. Marketing for the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show has never been more tactical and more saturated, composed of a concerted international strategy (and ASMEX in the lead up), Australian and local press, advertising and promotions that are worth in excess of $280,000!
Gold FM are currently on a Sun Downer houseboat as part of the radio station's 'Rock the Boat' promotion – visiting a different spot on the Gold Coast each day and promoting the hell out of the show, chatting about every different attraction, exhibitor and reason for attending, 6am to 9am daily, then there's the 100,000+ copies of the 2012 boat show guide delivered to targeted households on the Gold Coast last week AND downloadable at www.sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au, as well being available at the gate during the event.
It's blanket coverage. The talkability factor is high. It's now up to exhibitors to create the offers and seal the deals. Best of luck!

For my part, I will be between media lounge – and it's luxurious this year, complete with sunscreen from Tropicare for the fair skinned, Italian water thanks to Santa Vittoria Acqua Minerale, and plenty of refreshments and cuisine courtesy of Clancy – and the MarineBusiness-World.com Pavilion. It's the big one. You can't miss it.
WE WANT YOUR STORIES – whatever your product or service. So pop by and say more than ‘hi'. It's very chic, thanks to the refined skills and resources of Sarah Egan of Boat Style and her great relationship with outdoor furniture experts, Cosh Living. Thank you.
Of course, the rest of the world isn't forgotten, so if you're not SCIBS bound, there's some riveting pieces for you too.
See you at SCIBS!Jeni Bone, editor
