FLIR infra-red innovation, BoatStyle chic, Net delivers diversityWelcome to another busy, chocolate-free week of MarineBusiness-World. Hope your Easter was relaxing and spent out on the water.
This week, as well as a barrage of new products and launches heading our way from brands large and small, we have an exclusive interview with Peter De Ieso, the Distribution Manager for FLIR in Australia, who promises 'a road map of new products' throughout 2012 and beyond. According to Peter, 'FLIR Systems' goal is to have Infra-red everywhere', including in the next few years, as ubiquitous as GPS, with thermal imaging cameras in our mobile phones.

There's a vibrant and highly colourful profile piece on interiors expert and all-round 'go to' girl, Sarah Egan, whose talents will be on show during the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. Sarah, owner of BoatStyle, will be styling and decorating the venue for the boat show 'High Tea on the High Seas' cruises aboard MV The Lady. Read all about her inspiration on this project, and the array of expertise she and her team bring to yacht interiors, large and small.
On a tech note, we have the proof that the internet is not only the future of publishing, but that the future is here and now. The online magazine is master of the convergent media message. Our interview with Puma Skipper Ken Read, a key player on the Volvo Ocean Race scene, combines still images, interview transcript, audio and video.
These elements reinforce and amplify the story, or in an advertiser's case, the product and brand message. Now, with super high resolution devices and the prevalence of low cost tablets, the net is rapidly becoming the dominant medium as people communicate and source their information from laptops, tablets, smart phones - sometimes all at once! If you have a product, service or story to impart, get in touch.
Sunday 15 April will mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. The Titanic was to be the greatest ship afloat, shining proof of the industrial power of the modern world. But tragically, this vision was shattered on its first voyage when it struck an iceberg and sank on 15 April 1912 with the loss of over 1500 lives. The Australian National Maritime Museum at Sydney's Darling Harbour is hosting the exhibition Remembering Titanic – 100 years, presenting the history of this epic tragedy from construction to fateful sinking and rediscovery, and the controversy surrounding it. Make a point of visiting if you can.
