Sunrise LIVE at SCIBS, Manly boat show, London Olympic coverage

The pace is stepping up in the countdown to the 24th annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show - 24-27 May on the sunny Gold Coast.

The media launch was held last week in the International Business Lounge, the venue for AIMEX and Superyacht Australia members to meet and discuss business with the many guests and delegates from around the globe - Turkey, the Middle East, US, UK, France, China, Korea and New Zealand.

Barry Jenkins, Dugald Anthony, Mal Lane, Mark Sheppardson  Jeni Bone

Industry, government, business and the media turned out to hear about the initiatives and innovations to the program for exhibitors and visitors in 2012. They were not disappointed and feedback from the day was that this year's event is a fresh new show for a new era - also a fitting lead up to the 25th celebrations in 2013.

Highlights announced at the launch include: Sunrise broadcasting LIVE from Sanctuary Cove, Friday 25 May with the full team and crew showcasing this year's event, free wi-fi for the 300 exhibitors, many thousands of visitors and media, PLUS there will be more than 60 national and international launches at the four day event.

According to Gold Coast Councillor Grant Pforr's bulletin post-launch, the Gold Coast stands to benefit significantly as well: 'This important calendar event last year injected more than $300 million into our economy and has eclipsed the Gold Coast 600 and Magic Millions signature events.'

Councillor Susie Douglas, Councillor Grant Pforr and Liz Pforr  Jeni Bone

Another important facet of the boat show is the preceeding ASMEX conference, with international delegates attending both the conference and the boat show, adding value for exhibitors and trade.

Still on boat shows, Marine Queensland has announced a brand new event to celebrate everything Queenslanders love about getting on the water – Power, Sail and Paddle 2012 will dock at Queensland's biggest marina precinct, Manly Boat Harbour, September 21-23.

This hands-on participation-style event will showcase marine based and capture the themes of 'freedom and escape'.
