Riviera bought by Qld investor, Volvo Ocean Race captivates AucklandSo many stories this week, I had to prioritise. Please be assured, there are more coming, but your newsletter would have been overloaded.
Of most significance, nationally and with global impact as trail-blazers of our Australian industry, Riviera is back in business, following two years and nine months of receivership. Last week, its business and assets were officially sold to Australian owners, Longhurst Marine Holdings - a Queensland-based investment company. The familiar face of Wes Moxey is back as CEO and staff and suppliers are thrilled.

We will have an exclusive interview with Wes and team next week and wish Riviera the best of luck for the restructuring and recapitalisation process.
Our New Zealand editor, Richard Gladwell has been covering the cut-throat competition and arrival of the Volvo Ocean Race fleet, arriving to the warmest Kiwi welcome this week for the Auckland festivities.

I will be heading to New Zealand later this week to join the celebrations courtesy of Camper, and intend to delve in to the ROI on sponsorship of these high profile events, as well as some of the highlights of the 'Everest of Sailing'.
On the subject of boat shows, we are spoilt for choice around the country and around the world. The 20th annual Dubai International Boat Show is underway, AIMEX is gearing up for Asia-Pacific Maritime 2012 starting tomorrow, then there's the Rosehill Boat Show 17 & 18 March, the Brisbane Tinnie & Tackle show 23-25 March, City of Joondalup Hillarys Boat Show 23-25 March and PIMEX in Phuket starting 29 March.
Far from being a one-eyed Queenslander, I am a boat show buff. I plan to catch up with our NZ Marine colleagues this week to hear about the upcoming Auckland On the Water Boat Show 2012, then most likely off to Taiwan in June for Horizon's 25th anniversary celebrations and a famil of the venue for the planned 2014 Taiwan Boat Show - an exciting prospect for our region. Then perhaps Monaco in September . . . but I will have to beg and plead for time off for that one.
Heaps of news, reviews, products and some awesome dive and aquatic watches created with German technical genius that will be on show, for the first time, at this year's Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, May 24-27.
Thanks for sending your news and opinions. Don't forget to pop back in later in the week for more, and more, and more . . .Jeni Bone, editor Farr 400 – Pretty purposeful – Part II John Curnow, This weekend, Matt Allen's new Farr 400 will debut at the Helly Hansen Sydney Harbour Regatta. In Part I, of this article, Dee Smith, who is the Project Consultant for the pretty purposeful Farr 400, explained in terrific detail, firstly the creation of the boat and then the strict class controls that will be applied to these vessels.
