In Vendee Globe news Liz Wardley is soon to announce her new sponsor, Dominique Wavre is fine tuning Mirabaud while Arnaud Boissières' Akena Vérandas goes back in the water in March, with new mast fitted (the boat lost its previous mast in the last Transat Jacques Vabre.)

The Global Ocean Race 2011-12 Class40s are facing strong conditions on the third leg from Wellington to Punta del Este.

After being becalmed, the Clipper fleet now face the prospect of storms and the Volvo fleet is on stop over in Sanya, China for repairs, rest and relaxtion before the next leg commences on February 19 to Auckland, New Zealand. Groupama 4, skippered by Franck Cammas, finished second in the previous 3,051-mile leg from Malé.

And the 2012 RC44 Championship Tour commenced with a full day of match racing in Puerto Calero.

Volvo Ocean Race - Puma Ocean Racing join speed club + Video

Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 - So far this race none of the teams have been able to better Ericsson 4's world record 24-hour speed record, set during the 2008-09 Volvo Ocean Race when they recorded 596.6 nm. Akena Véranda's refit progress and Vendee Globe outlook

Akena Vérandas lost her mast in the Transat Jacques Vabre and is currently have a new one made at the JMV yard in Cherbourg. The monohull is now in for her refit in Les Sables d'Olonne and is due to be re-launched with her new mast in early April. A promising year for Groupama 4 in the Volvo Ocean Race + Video
