 Marina Survey results, Camper paper pavilion, 42,000 year old fishingAs we count down to Christmas (yes, only 3 weeks and 4 days!) and no doubt, heady days spent on the water, spare a thought for the Volvo Ocean Race crews braving all kinds of conditions, including windless, during the first leg between Alicante Spain and Cape Town where the first two boats arrived just a few days ago.
Camper with Emirates Team New Zealand, skippered by Australian Chris Nichyolson, crossed the finish line in Cape Town 16 hours behind Spanish entry, Telefonica, who completed the leg on Saturday after 21 days, five hours and 14 minutes at sea since leaving Spain.
The second leg from Cape Town to Abu Dhabi starts on December 10 and the race finishes in Galway, Ireland, next July.
