News from Asia and the Pacific
The Monsoon Cup finished last night in Terengganu in East Malaysia,, we will have more news from that event during the week.
It's certainly the biggest annual sailing event across Asia and Australasia, with a much bigger TV audience than any other in our region with the biggest budget too. There is a big Aussie presence amongst the race officials etc. as well as the sailors.

Am in Kuala Lumpur heading to the Kings Cup in Phuket, this is the largest keelboat event in Asia and the largest non Thai presence is Australian.– Sail-World has been involved in this event for a decade now, it is serious sailing and serious partying. If you've never been there, add it to your bucket list.
Meanwhile our coverage of the Perth 2011 regatta is ramping up, looking forward to it.
Now to a serious subject
There has been a number of instances recently where Clubs and Events have sent us images incorrectly attributed, which we have published with an event report in good faith, then had the actual photographers contact us complaining.
Naturally we immediately corrected the authorship but in each case the problem would not have arisen at all if the photographers concerned had followed the tried and tested professional photographers practice of ensuring all their images had IPTC metadata with their names, copyright etc.
It seems we have to educate some photographers who should know better, but we figured that if we started by explaining to Clubs that if they asked the photographers to protect their own images that would produce some progress too.
So if you are involved in a Club or an event that supplies news to the media or if you a serious amateur or hope to become a professional please read our article in this newsletter.
