Transat Jacques Vabre countdown and all the latest world sailing news
Welcome to this edition of Sail-World.com's Europe newsletter.
The tension is building the Transat Jacques Vabre duos ad the start approaches. This 2011 edition will see skippers race from La Havre to Costa Rica.

The Olympic aspirants are starting to assemble in Perth for the upcoming ISAF World Championships. (Perth 2011) Today we look at the Finn class and the question - Can anyone knock off Big Ben??
Ian Williams (GBR), currently leading the World Match Racing Tour rankings, is looking forward to the last event of the season, the Monsoon Cup in Terengganu, Malaysia.
However Francesco Bruni (ITA) Bruni Racing, currently in second place and just six points behind Williams. With extra points at stake in this final event on the Tour, Bruni will be pushing hard to deny Williams another ISAF World Match Racing title.
The Volvo Ocean Race competitors are in countdown mode in Alicante, Spain as the leg 1 start on Saturday 5th November draws closer and Sail-World.com will keep you up to date with all the action.
The Rolex Middle Sea Race has wrapped for another year with Esimit Europa 2 taking line honours.
Many skippers in the solo Charente-Maritime/Bahia Transat 6.50 have been forced to abandon the race, the latest being Scott Cavonough (AUS) and Mathieu Claveau (France).
