Sail-World New Zealand: 8 September 2011
 | | Aberdeen Asset Management in action during the UK stage of the 2011 Extreme 40 European Sailing Series Lloyd Images © | Welcome to Sail-World.com's New Zealand newsletter for 8 September 2011
There's a taste of the viewing-fest that is to come in this edition of Sail-World, with the announcement by the Volvo Ocean race of their first batch of TV coverage broadcasters - a 'mere' 57 broadcasters in 50 countries.
America's Cup Events Authority has announced their crop - by our count to about 40 countries.
Add to that the online TV coverage available on a raft of events such as the Extreme Sailing Series, World Match Racing Tour, and the Audi MedCup. There's certainly a plethora of coverage available.
Quite whether the America's Cup announcement will do the sponsorship job for the commercial teams remains to be seen. We suspect not.
There are some new features with the America's Cup that we do like. First if the availability of replays of all racing on Youtube - which means that you can view them on everything from an iPhone to a large screen TV.

New this series is a series of short daily clips from around the venue at Plymouth. The style of them reminds us of the old Movietone News but they grow on you - and we are featuring them each day on www.sail-world.com and in this newsletter.
As New Zealand heads into six weeks of World Rugby Cup fever, sailing and boating fans plus the general public will have the opportunity to check out the major upgrades that have occurred in the Viaduct Harbour area - and take in the Auckland International Boat Show - which will be an outstanding event.

The redeveloped complex and events centre in the Viaduct Harbour are just stunning, and have given the area a whole new feel, and allow the people to embrace the sea.
In March 2012 the Volvo Ocean Race will stop over in Auckland. To catch your first dose of Volvo fever make sure you have a look at the new Volvo Ocean Race trophy, which will be on display at the Auckland International Boat Show in the Viaduct Harbour from 15-18 September.

Part of the Auckland Stopover will be another marine show, or spectacular, including the NZ Marine Export Showcase, along with team bases and plenty of other entertainment. There were 30 exhibitor spaces available - most of which had sold at the start of this week. XClick here to find out what is on offer and how you can secure your area at the Auckland Stopover show.
