New Zealand's Waka Racing have got off to a slow start in the first day of the World Match Racing Tour being sailed at the picturesque St Moritz on Lake Silvaplana, Switzerland. Helmed by Phil Robertson, Waka Racing lie in 9th place overall in the 12 crew fleet.
We have a report on the first day's racing in this edition of Sail-World, along with a video preview of the regatta from Waka Racing.
The World Match Racing Tour has launched a new e-zine or digital online magazine. We have links in this newsletter so you can get your copy. It contains a mix of text, images and video. Don't miss the story in the use of catamarans in match racing where several of the experienced hands in the America's Cup and Match Racing scene comment on the what they have seen in the first round of the America's Cup World Series.

The next round of the America's Cup World Series gets underway in just nine and a bit days. We have a brief introduction in the this edition, plus a video. As yet there is no announcement of a new skipper for the China Team, although there have been some developments with former helmsman, Mitch Booth.

Don't forget North Sails are staging their Wind Warrior Regatta tomorrow, Friday afternoon, 2 September. There's details in this edition of Sail-World. Usually they get 40 competitors for this event, which is sailed in the NW corner of the Viaduct Harbour. So even if you aren't competing - get down to the Viaduct and have a look at some the rock-stars of the sailing scene do battle on a level playing field. Entry details are in this edition.

We clicked over a significant milestone with the story and image submission system, today with the receipt of our 500th story from our New Zealand reporting 'network'. This facility is a great opportunity for clubs, sailors and events to get their name, activities and sponsors up in lights in the largest single sports website in New Zealand.
We had another very good month for readership last month, just short of our July record - and once again came within an ace of reaching the 500,000 visits mark worldwide. About 200,000 unique visitors open a story on Sail-World each month, and we estimate that about double that number of visitors read the headlines and story introductions on the front page each month.

Volvo Ocean Race: Telefonica returns to base after 2000nm Qualifier

The Spanish Volvo Ocean race entry, Telefonica, is back at the pontoon of her training base at Sanxenxo, in Pontevedra, Spain. At 17:30 local time the Spanish boat skippered by Iker Martínez, with the entire crew on board, completed the almost one thousand mile climb up the Atlantic from the team's offshore base at Marina Rubicón, in Lanzarote, to the one in Sanxenxo, Northern Spain.
