Probably we've all done it at some time or other - "yes, I can sneak across in front of that ship, there's breeze, and I am moving well..." but for a sober reminder of what CAN happen, check out the video of the yacht that got clobbered by a supertanker at Cowes. Rumour has it that might cost someone a GBP10,000 fine...
A Macau Yacht Show - that's something new, and it sounds like a good idea. We can guess that it will be more power than sail oriented, but purely from a boating point of view it sounds like a good idea to run a boat show right where there is lots of money. Win a few of mill on the roulette table, then pop outside and buy a big boat! Unlike the Hong Kong boat shows, this is being run by an Exhibition company rather than a marina, and unlike Hainan it is in a place with a lot more to offer than just a marina (and there's a new Macau marina on the cards, north shore of Taipa). If they get it right, this is a venue that really could work very well.
For the Brits, there is good news from Weymouth (Ben Ainslie in the driving seat), and for everyone who enjoys a little dry humour there are Bob Fisher's uncharacteristically animated reports from Cascais. Sounds like someone is having fun!
