This afternoon, in deepest Mt Wellington, twice winner of the Round the World race, Ross Field announced that Buckley Systems would be sponsor of his, and son Campbell's, entry in the Global Ocean Race.
The two handed, five stop race gets underway at the end of September in Spain and will stop over in Wellington at Christmas.
For Bill Buckley, founder of Buckley Systems this is yet another major contribution to New Zealand sport, and one which stands an excellent chance of success. The Fields' boat finished second in the inaugural two-handed Global Ocean Race. She is designed by Guillaume Verdier, now a member of Emirates Team NZ's design group.

First test for Buckley Systems will be the Fastnet Race starting in just over a week, where she will come up against almost 40 of the Class40 rule yachts designed to a box rule, with cost restrictions. In the Global Ocean Race the racing is a test of sailing and seamanship rather than chequebooks and technology.
We are pleased to be able to feature the first edition, well third really, of Inclusive, the new Yachting New Zealand newsletter aimed at sailors with disabilities. It is a great publication, with plenty of news about all manner of disabled sailing activities and achievements. Did you know that New Zealand had qualified for the 2012 Paralympics in two of the three events? And that one of those sailors, who qualified the event for NZ, used to be a top Flying Dutchman sailor? You didn't? Well read on...

In this edition we have compiled a series of five videos posted over the past week on the Volvo Ocean Race website. Three of the skippers talk about their entries and the issues that lie ahead of them. We have two walk-throughs on a Volvo 70 – with Mike Sanderson conducting one tour, and Richard Mason doing the same with Ericsson, one of the competitors in the previous edition of the race. Unlike a lot of other video material that is appearing on the internet of late, these videos do tell a story, and do hold a shot for more than a few seconds.

Weymouth and Portland International Regatta - The 12 Women's Match Racing teams put up with light winds on the first day of racing at the London 2012 Olympic Test Event. Seven flights consisting of 21 races took place on the opening day featuring teams from Australia, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and USA....
