All eyes are on the IFDS Disabled Sailing World Championships being held at the 2012 Olympic sailing venue in Weymouth and Portland.

Skandia Team GBR members and defending Skud18 world title holders Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell hold a four point lead going into day 4 of competition. Disappointment for John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas in the three-person Sonar event after a protest dropped them back to second. Helena Lucas and Megan Pascoe competing in the 2.4mR event remain in medal contention.

Ian Williams is certainly a busy man. At the helm of Team GAC Pindar he blasted around the Extreme 40 course in Boston USA and now faces the starters gun in Sweden, competing at the Stena Match Cup, the next stop on the World Match Racing Tour.

Internationally, the Transatlantic Race is now underway, as is the Transpac. The Open European Championships continue in Finland and we have news and results from the RS100 Eurocup.

Open Europeans Helsinki - Racing challenge for fleets

Sailors' nerves were put to the test due to the postponements at the Open Europeans 2011 in Helsinki. However, there were no major changes at the top in any of the classes. With six races completed and a 21st in the last, Tonci Stipanovic of Croatia lost the lead in the Laser Standards. His compatriot Milan Vujasinovic (CRO) took the lead while Poland's Jonasz Stelmaszyk held third.... [more]

Rooster Laser Masters National Championships 2011 at Whistable YC
UK Laser Association,
Rooster Laser Masters National Championships 2011 attracted an entry of 94. The fleet was split 54 standards and 40 radials, each with their own start. The championship was also the second UK world-ranking event for the 2012 World Masters to be sailed in Brisbane, Australia. The forecast for the three days was dire to say the least, indicating a maximum gust wind strength of 5 - 7 knots if any.... [more]

RS Feva Grand Prix 2011 - Riviera? Better than that! Adrenaline pumping? Well, not quite. The race team did extremely well to get all six races in. By the end of the third race on Saturday it was a fast drift. The sun cream did get a battering all weekend. With the wind at its standard 12-15kts, a little chop and a sunny 28 degrees it made for an even beat, with places changing all the way to the top. RS100 Euro Grand Prix 2011 - Another glorious day here on Lake Como was started by a very slow drift to the start line. Half way there it was looking like it would be a long day with little breeze.
