Round the Island Race, Three Peaks and more ....
Welcome to this edition of our Sail-World.com's UK newsletter.
This year's J.P. Morgan Asset Management Round the Island Race had something for everyone. With 1,908 boats participating, 16,000 sailors faced wind speeds of up to 28 knots with huge swells hitting the fleet off the Needles and at St. Catherine's.
470 sailor Nick Rogers helmed the Contessa 26 Sundowner to victory, while line honours went to French skipper Lionel Lemonchois on his 50ft multihull Prince de Bretagne.
This race certainly attracts high profiles sailors with Olympic champions Ben Ainslie, Paul Goodison, Iain Percy, Andrew Simpson and Shirley Robertson and round-the-world yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur counted amongst this year's competitors.

In racing of another kind, the Irish Team Danu Technologies won the 34th Three Peaks Yacht Race. Glen Ward, John Prudhoe and Andrew Miles, and runners Deon McNeilly and Gary Bailey, sailed to victory on a Ker35.
The Class 40 Team Concise (Ned Collier Wakefield (Skipper), Pete Goss, Tom Smedley, Tristan Jaques, Tom Dawson and Dan Gohl) will participate in this year's Transatlantic Race before competing in the Rolex Fastnet. They face the gun in the second of the staggered starts.
It's not just the big boats who are out on the water, dinghy sailors are very active this time of year and we have news from the Flying 15's, Cadets, Sonata Nationals and the RS Classes just to mention a few, as well as loads of other stories, videos and images from UK events and beyond.
Stay tuned to Sail-World.com to keep up to date with the latest sailing news from around the globe.
Have a great week.
