Sydney 1 month, Minister retains Marine Park power, Boat Show Survey

Despite headlines filled with the likelihood of a new tax on carbon, and consumer sentiment wavering between freaked out and cautious, the line-up for this week shows it's not all doom and gloom - there's plenty to be grateful for, a lot to look forward to and opportunities galore.

The 44th Sydney International Boat Show starts one month from today, and organisers are convinced the beefed up program will draw the crowds, inspire them and deliver the boating options for all tastes. There will be plenty of exciting boats on show, hundreds of activities and events, speakers and performances.

The Mackay Tinnie & Tackle Show has just wrapped up, with plenty of sales reported and positive feedback from the exhibitors who declared it 'Just what the industry needed'.

There's still time to have your say on boat shows - why you go, why you don't, what you look for, how you shop what shows you like. This survey is for dealers, visitors and exhibitors to tell organisers what you'd like to see and experience PLUS just by entering, you could win $14,000 in prizes - including a trip for two to Hayman Barrier Reef, airfares and spending money, a versatile, durable Zodiac RIB, 5hp Honda engine, RFD epirb and PFDs, Barz Optics polarised sunnies, clothing voucher from Shock & Oar, Sperry shoes (6 pairs!) and Liquid Image video camera goggles! It's certainly worth your time, and the industry needs your feedback.

This week we have combed the world for the most interesting and edifying stories that will help readers build their business. Please feel free to send your own stories and comments.

News, as it happens, will be added to our sites daily, so keep visiting.
