First there were the sceptics who were concerned at the idea of the America's Cup being raced in multihulls. And then there were doubts about the venue (although with the defending Club, Golden Gate YC, in San Francisco, some thought that was what is known in literary circles as a "no brainer"). Add in the promised high-powered media coverage, and AC34 is shaping up to be really rather good - although a few more entries would be good...
