Congratulations to Anthony Root and the crew of Red Kite II on their second San Fernando Race win. It's hard enough to do it once, but twice in a row is exceptional. Congrats also to Sam Chan and the crew of Freefire (not forgetting Ian Walker and his merry men from Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing now seriously in training for the VOR), on yet another Line Honours. Another well-earned addition to the well-stuffed trophy cabinet.
The Asia action now moves across the waters from San Fernando to Pattaya, and the Top of the Gulf Regatta. We not going to be out there with a clicker, but 30+ big boats, plus a whole swarm of little ones - notably Optimists contesting the Thai Nationals - now make this, numerically, the biggest regatta in Asia. "251 boats and over 500 sailors of 30 nationalities". We'll be there, looking for some Thai sunshine to make the photos look even better. Watch this space.
