 Sunshine at last
Summer has finally arrived in South East Queensland, Australia, and while many will enjoy it for what it is, it also allows various authorities to continue the massive clean-up necessitated by the disastrous floods which hammered the region.
It has been heart-warming to see the boating industry, not only across Queensland, but also from NSW, make every effort to come to the aid of those businesses affected by the raging torrents of water. We shall see if there is actually going to be a Flood Levy or not after the politicians stop arguing about it.

Meanwhile, life goes on and we have plenty to report on despite the gloom that still hangs over the flood affected areas.
Boat shows around the world still proceed and China, Monaco and Düsseldorf are underway while down in NSW the Boating Industry Association of that state is busily preparing for the eighth annual Rosehill Trailer Boat Show.
Across in New Zealand, the national offshore championship have begun and in the USA planning is well advanced for the 2011 Super Boat International series, which culminates in the fabulous Key West World Championships.
Flood waters down south (Victoria copped nature's wrath, too) organisers have been forced to postpone one of Australia's largest water ski races, the Southern 80.
The rivers, including the ‘mighty Murray', are just too dangerous for competition, as flood water bring large amounts of debris down the swollen rivers..
This is the very same area that last year was under dire threat from bushfires!
As a colleague who has battled both flood and fire pointed out to me, 'At least you can fight a fire, even if you're only standing there with a garden hose, but with floods all you can do is stand helplessly by and watch the water rise.'
Well, I guess we all know that Mother Nature rules!
